In the Spring of 2018 I decided that because of arthritis I could no longer handle firing my soda kiln. I bought a digitally controlled reduction kiln in which I hoped to produce a similar effect: pots with shimmery, variegated, and animated surfaces, avoiding the thickly frosted look of many reduction glazes. I would still achieve a lively and spontaneous look by using slips, stains, and sgraffito under thin applications of selected glazes, some of which I had to adjust. By
